What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Tree 197 Ministries based on the foundational truths taught in the Holy Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.

The Fall

When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.

 The Bible is God’s Word to us.
 The Bible was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without error.
2 Timothy 3:16, 1:13; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6;
Proverbs 30:5

The Church

The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world using ALL gifts to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Galatians 5:25; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.

~ Ownership 101 ~

We believe every Christian should belong to a local church and take ownership of that church. This includes serving, giving, and participating in a biblical community, both INSIDE the walls of the church and OUTSIDE the walls of the church. Why Ownership? Members have rights, Owners have responsibilities. We offer a Ownership class where you’ll learn the vision and values of The Tree. We’ll explain our core values of our church. Ownership Class is designed for 7th grade to adults who want to learn more about what it means to be in community with our Tree Family. Listen for Sign-ups at the church on Sunday or dates posted on the site. This class is strongly suggested so you can take ‘Ownership’ at The Tree and feel you have an understanding of our values and vision moving forward. At The Tree Church, we’re working to reach every person in Camden, Morgan and Miller counties with the gospel of Jesus and restore them to their rightful place as co-labors in Jesus Christ. We’d love for you to join us! If you’re interested in becoming an Owner, let us know and someone will be in touch with you to help you take your next step.
